The Art Deco style

After WW1, only 10 houses were left in Albert. The town was rebuilt with an Art Déco Style (with concrete, bow-windows, shapes & lines, motifs, wrought iron....). It includes the wish to construct in a regional style. The general use of bricks, already known in this area before the war, helps to reduce the cost of the reconstruction. It takes about ten years to create the actual local homogenous charm. you can see it on more than 250 facades. A leaflet is available at the Tourist Office in Albert.
